Forget how to forget.
Highlight anything on your Mac. It's in your second brain before you've finished the thought — and that's just the first of five hotkeys.
The buy box does no selling, and there is no purchase CTA below the fold on a 6,800px page.

the whole flow: select, ⌥Space, note, enter — it's in your list
Works wherever you can select text
Five ways in. One place out.
Everything Hilite captures lands in Mental Cache, where the brain — an agent running on a VPS — picks it up within ten minutes and turns it into tasks, research reports, or GitLab issues. You get a Telegram ping when it's done.
Rewrite in place
⌥⇧SpaceSelect wordy text anywhere, pick a preset or type an instruction, and the rewrite pastes back over your selection. Direct API call — about a second.
Works in any app with a text field. Your clipboard is saved and restored.
Dictation that sees your screen
⌥⇧DHold to talk. Hilite screenshots the active window, so it knows if you're in Slack, email, or a commit message — and pastes polished writing in your voice, not a raw transcript.
Say an instruction instead ('make this punchier') and it executes it on your selection.

Meeting audio to action items
⌥⇧MRecords system audio, transcribes locally with Whisper, and summarizes into decisions and owner-tagged action items. You review before anything is filed.
Audio and transcript are deleted after — only the summary survives.
Screenshot with intent
⌥⇧SSnap a region and tell Hilite what you want: research it, build it, or save it as an ad reference. The brain does the work and publishes the result.
Reports show up on brain-reports.vercel.app, with a Telegram ping when done.
The magic folder
~/MentalCacheDropDrop any file — PDF, image, doc — into the folder. It gets read, summarized, and filed with action items. The original moves to processed/.
No hotkey, no UI. The folder is the interface.
Cloud
best qualityClaude does the writing — it reads the window screenshot, matches your voice, nails the tone. Paste your API key in Settings, hit Test key, done.
Local
free · privateEverything runs on your Mac: Whisper transcribes, Apple Vision reads the screen, Ollama writes. No network, no bill — nothing ever leaves the machine.
Transcription is always on-device. One toggle in Settings → AI engine switches the writing between the two.
Shortcuts that actually feel like shortcuts.
